Celebrations

The celebrations in Conil are one more excuse to enjoy this beautiful fishing village. Pilgrimage, processions, carnival or fair. You will have everything you need to spend a few days in Conil and enjoy their local festivities.

In addition to the already known national holidays, if you come to spend a few days of holidays in Conil, these are some of its festivities. If you have the opportunity, take the advantage and enjoy them the same as a local villager would.


Romería (Pilgrimage) of San Sebastian

It is a festival that it is followed very strongly by the population. The patron saint is moved in a pilgrimage from the village center to the Pinar of El Colorado (Pine tree Forest of El Colorado), with locals and visitors spending a day together.
Takes place on the closest Sunday to the Saint day of San Sebastian (20th of January)

May Crosses

April
This day the villagers are dedicated to decorating crosses of their own creation, participating in a great traditional local contest.


Spring Fair of El Colorado

First weekend of June
When spring is almost over and the summer about to arrive, the traditional El Colorado Spring Fair is celebrated. Here the horse has an important meaning as well as the gastronomy, the horticultural products of the area, which are exposed to the public as well as some tasks of the field. During the Fair one afternoon is dedicated to the children and another to the older people. The Fair ends with a horse parade through the entire fairgrounds.


The bonfires of San Juan

June 23th
On the eve of San Juan, the popular “Juan and Juana” are burned. These effigies are those who mischievously personify the most significant events of what happened in the municipality or even in the country.


The Virgin Carmen

July 16th
This celebration of the patroness of the fisherman begins with a mass and after that the Virgin is transferred to the harbour, for a procession by boat on the waters. Further events are organized in the port, culminating the festivity with a procession of the Virgin through the streets of the town.


Fair and celebration in the honor of our “Señora de las Virtudes”

Depending on Las Virtudes Saint day, the celebration takes place on the first or second weekend of September.
This celebration is performed with a festive and hearty atmosphere where the village is decorated colorfully and it is full hustle and bustle to celebrate their patroness.
